Dr. John Forsyth has appeared on TV, radio, and varied news outlets to discuss anxiety disorders, stress, and the alleviation of various forms of emotional and psychological suffering using mindfulness-based practices. He is an internationally recognized leader in the science and practice of a newer mindfulness-based behavior therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (or ACT), and related streams that include mindfulness practices from Buddhist and Eastern traditions (e.g., Metta or loving kindness, Tonglen or self/other compassion work), and strategies to help people live well, even with obstacles, problems, and pain. John holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and is a Professor of Psychology and Director the Anxiety Disorders Research Program at the University at Albany, SUNY in Upstate New York. He is also widely sought after ACT trainer and consultant and serves as a senior editor of the ACT book series with New Harbinger Publications.
